What it says
The USPS indicia image reads, line by line:
- PRSRT STD
- ECRWSS
- U.S.POSTAGE
- PAID
- EDDM Retail
PRSRT STD means presorted standard. ECRWSS is the industry shorthand for enhanced carrier route walk sequence saturation, meaning the mail is in carrier order for every address on the route. USPS offers the image as a download, so you don't have to set it yourself.
Where it goes
- Top right of the mailing side, above and to the right of the address block.
- Inside an area 1.625 inches from the right edge and 1.375 inches from the top edge.
- With 1/8 inch of clear space along its top and right sides.
How big
There's no single required size, but it has to be larger than 0.5 x 0.5 inch. The lettering must be all capitals and at least 4 point.
The address line next to it
Below and to the left of the indicia goes the simplified address:
- Postal Customer for every address on the route
- Residential Customer for homes only
Choose the one that matches the delivery type you selected in the EDDM tool.
Can I put a stamp on EDDM pieces instead?
EDDM Retail pieces use the EDDM Retail indicia in place of a stamp.
Where do I get the indicia?
USPS provides a ready-made image on its EDDM pages.
